Bulgur with stew

Булгур с тушенкой

How to make bulgur with stew in a frying pan? Prepare the necessary products. Take filtered or bottled water, tap water can spoil the taste of the dish. Stew is suitable from any meat to your taste, the main thing is that it was of high quality. It will be even better if you take homemade stew.

Peel the onion from the husks and rinse in running water. Cut the onion into small to medium cubes. If you like the onion to feel good in the dish, slice it into half rings. Rinse the knife with cold water so it will sting your eyes less.

Place a skillet on the stove, turn up a low heat and pour in the odorless sunflower oil. Place the onions in the skillet and fry them until transparent and lightly browned. Don't forget to stir the onions so they don't burn.
Place the stew to the onions, breaking up any large pieces of meat. The fat from the can can be added or removed too. I didn't use it. I put the jelly (broth) from the stew in the skillet, it soaks the grits, making them very flavorful. Braise the contents of the skillet for about 5-7 minutes.

Rinse the bulgur several times in running water. Drain the water and allow the grits to dry slightly.
Place the bulgur on top of the stew and flatten. At this stage, add salt to taste. You can top the dish with spices, but keep in mind that the stew already contains salt and seasonings.

Pour room temperature water into the skillet. How much water do you need? I advise you to stick to the proportion 1:2, i.e. for one part of groats take two parts of water.

Cover the pan with a lid and wait for the water to boil. Then turn the heat down to almost minimum and cook bulgur with stew for about 20-25 minutes. How do I know the bulgur is ready? The liquid should be absorbed into the groats. The bulgur will become soft and swollen. The time will depend on the capabilities of your stove, skillet and the degree of heat.

Bulgur with stew is ready! Bon appetit!
